I spent a day in Copenhagen on my own before meeting Mom for our trip to Norway.

Along the waterfront to Christianshavn.

From Krøyers Plads, I continued along the water to Christianshavn. I climbed Vor Frelsers Kirke before crossing Cirkelbroen and heading back to Nordhavn.

Up the spire at Vor Frelsers Kirke.

The staircase wraps around the outside of the spire. From the top, I could look out over the rooftops and canals I'd been walking past all afternoon.

Sources and method

The model shows the upper spire and its exterior staircase. It uses de Thurah's historical drawings and photographs for reference. The upper turns are compressed, and the materials, railing details and sculpture are approximations.

Sources and method

The bridge has five circular platforms. Two stay in place while the other three turn together to open a passage for boats. This model follows the published plans, with an opening of about twenty seconds.
